Role With It!

No, that's not a typo... it's supposed to be a play on words!

Sometimes I play the game of, "What will other people think of me?" Like, what if they compare me to somebody else who is the "person of the moment," or is flashier or is more successful at some aspect of life than I am. Will their opinion of me change? Will I lose the connection or "place" I have with them? And while my head knows that little to nothing of this matters, the person inside me tends to be concerned with these things.

Not a new problem. Paul and the Early Church faced it, too! Guess we've forever been playing the, "Whose your favorite pastor?" game! But in the Bible the names are Paul, Apollos, Cephas and the rest. There's something to be said about investing in others... and then wanting to protect that investment!

But Paul set the record straight in 1 Corinthians 3:5-9. Who are the church leaders? Nothing more than "servants through whom you believed." That's really special... but not so special that you are the only person God may choose to use in somebody's faith-life. Remember that nugget!

But here's the real point! "... each has the role the Lord has given."
